If you loved El verano de Coo, try Colorful
Un puente entre una película que ya has visto y una que casi nadie ha cruzado. Esto es lo que comparten, y lo que la segunda hace que la primera no hace.
Lo que comparten
Both films are directed by Keiichi Hara, and they both carry the bittersweet, foreign gem, tender mood tags, and they sit in Animation / Drama / Family territory. If that's the register that drew you to El verano de Coo, the second film will land in a comparable space — through a different lens.
What Colorful is
Here's a film that really leans into its title. A recently deceased soul gets a surprise second chance in the body of a suicidal teenage boy. Observed by a spirit guide, the soul relives the boy's life to uncover the reasons for his past sins and present unhappiness. It certainly earns points for trying.
