If you loved The General, try The Cameraman

A bridge between a film you've already seen and one most people haven't. The Cameraman has roughly 3.2× fewer votes than The General — it's a deeper cut, not a mainstream recommendation. Here's what they share, and what the second one does that the first one doesn't.

What they share

Both films are directed by Buster Keaton, and they both carry the playful mood tag, and they sit in Comedy / Drama / Romance territory. If that's the register that drew you to The General, the second film will land in a comparable space — through a different lens.

What The Cameraman is

Buster Keaton does his thing again. A hapless tintype portraitist falls for an MGM secretary and becomes a newsreel cameraman to win her over. It turns out to be a sweet silent comedy, if that's your thing.
