If you loved Species II, try Alien Resurrection
A bridge between a film you've already seen and one most people haven't. Here's what they share, and what the second one does that the first one doesn't.
What they share
Theysit in Action / Horror / Science Fiction territory. If that's the register that drew you to Species II, the second film will land in a comparable space — through a different lens.
What Alien Resurrection is
LV-426, two centuries on. A cascade of test-tubes. Military scientists resurrect Ripley from a blood-stained sample, splicing her genome with the alien queen in utero. Xenomorphs soon infest the ship. This is where the Gallic sensibility clashes with the franchise.
