If you loved Solarbabies, try Zone Troopers
A bridge between a film you've already seen and one most people haven't. Here's what they share, and what the second one does that the first one doesn't.
What they share
Theysit in Action / Adventure / Science Fiction territory. If that's the register that drew you to Solarbabies, the second film will land in a comparable space — through a different lens.
What Zone Troopers is
You're a grunt crouched in the Italian brush, Sarge barking orders through the static, boots sinking in mud and something else—something metallic. Then the ship splits the tree line, smoke curling like a signal. Now you're hunting whatever crawled out, but the radio's picking up voices in German and frequencies no human made. The war just got more fronts. Shot on grainy 35mm, it feels like a VHS cassette left in a foxhole—1985 pretending it’s 1944 pretending it’s the future.
