If you loved R100, try Scabbard Samurai
A bridge between a film you've already seen and one most people haven't. Here's what they share, and what the second one does that the first one doesn't.
What they share
Both films are directed by Hitoshi Matsumoto, and they sit in Comedy / Drama territory. If that's the register that drew you to R100, the second film will land in a comparable space — through a different lens.
What Scabbard Samurai is
Here's a film with an odd premise that it somehow pulls off. A disgraced, swordless samurai is given a month to make a grieving young prince laugh, lest he be executed. It does, in fairness, contain an awful lot of funny faces.
