If you loved Next Floor, try Maelström

A bridge between a film you've already seen and one most people haven't. Here's what they share, and what the second one does that the first one doesn't.

What they share

Both films are directed by Denis Villeneuve, and they both carry the surreal mood tag, and they sit in Comedy territory. If that's the register that drew you to Next Floor, the second film will land in a comparable space — through a different lens.

What Maelström is

Villeneuve here asks: can a talking fish make a difference? Bibiane becomes despondent after an abortion and accidentally killing a pedestrian. Redemption arrives in the form of a fishmonger also named Évian. It's certainly a film that happened.
