If you loved Dead Man, try Down by Law
A bridge between a film you've already seen and one most people haven't. Here's what they share, and what the second one does that the first one doesn't.
What they share
Both films are directed by Jim Jarmusch, and they sit in Drama territory. If that's the register that drew you to Dead Man, the second film will land in a comparable space — through a different lens.
What Down by Law is
Jarmusch does New Orleans. Three hapless men find themselves sharing a jail cell after running afoul of the law. They break out and try to make their way through the Louisiana swamp. The movie has some striking black-and-white photography, so there's that.
