If you loved Citizen X, try The Fortune Cookie
A bridge between a film you've already seen and one most people haven't. Here's what they share, and what the second one does that the first one doesn't.
What they share
Theysit in Crime / Drama territory. If that's the register that drew you to Citizen X, the second film will land in a comparable space — through a different lens.
What The Fortune Cookie is
Billy Wilder does not stint on the cynicism here. A cameraman gets hurt at a football game and his lawyer sees a path to riches, encouraging a fabricated lawsuit. Cue the arrival of an ex-wife, lured by the scent of money. It's a bit much, but mostly works.
