If you loved Bent, try Les Misérables
A bridge between a film you've already seen and one most people haven't. Here's what they share, and what the second one does that the first one doesn't.
What they share
Theyboth carry the bittersweet mood tag, and they sit in Drama / History / Romance territory. If that's the register that drew you to Bent, the second film will land in a comparable space — through a different lens.

What Les Misérables is
Here's a film that really wants you to know it's adapted from Victor Hugo. Jean Valjean, having served hard time for stealing bread, is hounded for decades by the unyielding Javert. Eventually Valjean gets mixed up in some student uprisings. It's a solid adaptation, provided you've never read the book.
