If you loved America's Sweethearts, try Christmas with the Kranks
A bridge between a film you've already seen and one most people haven't. Here's what they share, and what the second one does that the first one doesn't.
What they share
Both films are directed by Joe Roth, and they both carry the cozy, playful mood tags, and they sit in Comedy territory. If that's the register that drew you to America's Sweethearts, the second film will land in a comparable space — through a different lens.
What Christmas with the Kranks is
Here's a film that asks: what if Christmas… wasn't? The Kranks decide to skip town and avoid the holiday season altogether, much to the dismay of their tradition-loving neighbors. But when their daughter decides to come home last minute, the couple has to manufacture Christmas morning from scratch. It's a Yuletide panic, played for laughs (presumably).
