If you loved A Single Spark, try Chilsu and Mansu
A bridge between a film you've already seen and one most people haven't. Here's what they share, and what the second one does that the first one doesn't.
What they share
Both films are directed by Park Kwang-su, and they sit in Drama territory. If that's the register that drew you to A Single Spark, the second film will land in a comparable space — through a different lens.
What Chilsu and Mansu is
Here's a film that knows its audience. Two sign painters decide to make a statement by climbing a billboard. In the end, it's a fairly standard drama, elevated by the novel decision to stage much of it high above the streets.
