If you loved Ecstacy of the Black Rose, try Path of the Beast
Un ponte tra un film che hai già visto e uno che quasi nessuno ha incrociato. Questo è ciò che condividono, e ciò che il secondo fa che il primo non fa.
Cosa condividono
Both films are directed by Tatsumi Kumashiro, and they sit in Drama territory. If that's the register that drew you to Ecstacy of the Black Rose, the second film will land in a comparable space — through a different lens.
What Path of the Beast is
Saki, a 17-year-old noodle vendor’s daughter, hustles between school dropouts, street romances and late-night truck stops. She quits her paramours, hoping to outrun her mother’s itinerant history. The film documents this doomed attempt at reinvention with the subtlety of a neon sign in a back alley.
