If you loved L'esercito, try Port of Flowers
Un ponte tra un film che hai già visto e uno che quasi nessuno ha incrociato. Questo è ciò che condividono, e ciò che il secondo fa che il primo non fa.
Cosa condividono
Both films are directed by Keisuke Kinoshita, and they both carry the tender mood tag, and they sit in Drama / War territory. If that's the register that drew you to L'esercito, the second film will land in a comparable space — through a different lens.

What Port of Flowers is
One imagines the director had to start somewhere. Two swindlers descend on an unsuspecting port town at the beginning of the war. Their grift is foiled when they unexpectedly develop consciences. The film is as much a testament to the director's faith in people as it is a product of wartime cinematic mandates.
