If you loved Der Husar auf dem Dach, try Cyrano von Bergerac
Eine Brücke zwischen einem Film, den du schon gesehen hast, und einem, den kaum jemand kennt. Das teilen sie, und was der zweite macht, was der erste nicht macht.
Was sie teilen
Both films are directed by Jean-Paul Rappeneau, and they both carry the bittersweet, tender mood tags, and they sit in Drama / History / Romance territory. If that's the register that drew you to Der Husar auf dem Dach, the second film will land in a comparable space — through a different lens.

What Cyrano von Bergerac is
Here's a big-nose-guy-loves-beautiful-woman story that is not, in fact, Roxanne. Cyrano is in love with his cousin, but his outsized schnoz keeps him from declaring himself. Instead, he funnels his love through a handsome but tongue-tied cadet. At least it's got Gerard Depardieu.
