If you loved ¡Vivir!, try Regreso a casa

Lo que comparten
Both films are directed by Zhang Yimou, and they both carry the bittersweet, foreign gem mood tags, and they sit in Drama / Romance territory. If that's the register that drew you to ¡Vivir!, the second film will land in a comparable space — through a different lens.

What Regreso a casa is
Zhang Yimou apparently felt like doing a melodrama. When a political prisoner returns home from a labor camp, he discovers his wife has amnesia and doesn't recognize him. It's a moving story, provided you aren't allergic to sentiment.
