If you loved The Tarnished Angels, try Written on the Wind
A bridge between a film you've already seen and one most people haven't. Here's what they share, and what the second one does that the first one doesn't.
What they share
Both films are directed by Douglas Sirk, and they sit in Drama territory. If that's the register that drew you to The Tarnished Angels, the second film will land in a comparable space — through a different lens.
What Written on the Wind is
Here's a melodrama that really commits. A geologist finds himself embroiled in the affairs of a Texas oil family and the unrequited desires swirling around them. Eventually someone gets accused of murder, as they do. It's hard to say if anyone emerges happy.
