If you loved The Field, try The Boxer

A bridge between a film you've already seen and one most people haven't. Here's what they share, and what the second one does that the first one doesn't.

What they share

Both films are directed by Jim Sheridan, and they sit in Drama territory. If that's the register that drew you to The Field, the second film will land in a comparable space — through a different lens.

What The Boxer is

A man exits prison after a long sentence; you can guess the rest. Danny attempts to re-establish his boxing career and reconnect with a former lover, now married to an imprisoned IRA man. It ticks the boxes of a standard redemption story, and does so effectively.
