If you loved Radiance, try Hanezu
A bridge between a film you've already seen and one most people haven't. Hanezu has roughly 5.4× fewer votes than Radiance — it's a deeper cut, not a mainstream recommendation. Here's what they share, and what the second one does that the first one doesn't.
What they share
Both films are directed by Naomi Kawase, and they both carry the bittersweet, slow burn, tender mood tags, and they sit in Drama / Romance territory. If that's the register that drew you to Radiance, the second film will land in a comparable space — through a different lens.
What Hanezu is
Naomi Kawase returns to Nara to contemplate love, loss, and landscape. Two men find themselves drawn to the same woman, who is herself obsessed with the ancient crimson dye known as hanezu. As you might expect, the scenery is lovely.
