If you loved Pain & Gain, try Bad Boys II
A bridge between a film you've already seen and one most people haven't. Here's what they share, and what the second one does that the first one doesn't.
What they share
Both films are directed by Michael Bay, and they both carry the playful, unhinged mood tags, and they sit in Action / Comedy / Crime territory. If that's the register that drew you to Pain & Gain, the second film will land in a comparable space — through a different lens.
What Bad Boys II is
Two Miami narcotics detectives hunt ecstasy shipments only to stumble into a larger war featuring a Cuban warlord, Russian mobsters, and an irritated Haitian contingent. One of them is also sleeping with his partner’s sister, a development that neither handgun nor sunglasses can deflect. The result is all testosterone and little subtlety.
