If you loved Miss Hokusai, try Colorful

A bridge between a film you've already seen and one most people haven't. Here's what they share, and what the second one does that the first one doesn't.

What they share

Both films are directed by Keiichi Hara, and they both carry the cozy, foreign gem mood tags, and they sit in Animation / Drama territory. If that's the register that drew you to Miss Hokusai, the second film will land in a comparable space — through a different lens.

What Colorful is

Here's a film that really leans into its title. A recently deceased soul gets a surprise second chance in the body of a suicidal teenage boy. Observed by a spirit guide, the soul relives the boy's life to uncover the reasons for his past sins and present unhappiness. It certainly earns points for trying.
