If you loved Design for Living, try Trouble in Paradise

A bridge between a film you've already seen and one most people haven't. Here's what they share, and what the second one does that the first one doesn't.

What they share

Both films are directed by Ernst Lubitsch, and they both carry the cozy, cult mood tags, and they sit in Comedy / Romance territory. If that's the register that drew you to Design for Living, the second film will land in a comparable space — through a different lens.

What Trouble in Paradise is

Lubitsch directs, as only he can, a film about larcenous lovers. Gaston and Lily, professional thieves, target a wealthy Parisian perfumer. Love and larceny become more complicated than either anticipated. It's a slight film, perhaps, but perfectly formed.
